When do we get to see the list captain?

  • Who is Captain in 2015 ?? .. did we miss something ??

  • Mike McIver is captain until 27th January...the date of the AGM, on which he'll be standing down and a new club captain elected at Kepplewray.

As he said at our Xmas "do" the position is up for anyone who wants it, and a vote taken on the night at the AGM.
I can't answer the above questions as to wheather the current captain or the new captain will do the road and fell champs counter races list.

  • I think it's the new Captains prerogative which races are 'in' (all be in by discussion / suggestion with others) ??

  • ...I think Sue put together the 2014 Summer Champs list, so you're not off the hook yet Mike!

  • Beth is right - its Mike's job as its too late by the time of the AGM.

  • I am reliably informed Mike's on the case

As you can see, I've included the local Parkruns for 2015.\
For these, the winner's time for calculating scores will be the
fastest time run by anyone between 1st of Jan and a week before the
Christmas Party. Your counting time will be the fastest time you ran
between 1st of Jan and a week before the Christmas Party.\
    I hope that makes sense.\
There's no entry fee for Parkrun but you have to register on the
    site
    beforehand to get a
barcode (which you must take to every run).

    Scoring

In each series, your best 5 races (from 12[1]) count, and must include
at least one long, one medium and one short.\
The fell and road champs are completely separate from each other.

There is some explanation of handicap scoring on the 2015 champs
    page
and I'll put the races on
    there soon.

fn1\^. now 13 for the road champs after the inclusion of the new Hoad
    Hill Marathon

  • Excellent work Mike .. the park run idea is game changing .. a brilliant innovation in my book ...

  • I've had the suggestion from a couple of people to add the Hoad Hill Marathon to our club champs as a Long. The event in on Sunday 9th August.

Would anyone have any objections to this? It would be good to support this local event in its first year.

    Cheers
    John

  • Good shout Captain ... Gets my vote ... I might even do it !!

  • Get's my vote as well.....I've already pre-entered the marathon, and entry fees during Feb are £25 for the marathon and £20 for the half. These prices go up on 1st March and entry is available on the Si Entries website. The limit is 500 runners and over 100 have pre-entered so far.

Does a race therefore get dropped to replace it? If so, my suggestion would be the Haweswater half, as that's the day after the Black Combe wtl event and also would eliminate two longs in just 20 days.

  • We'll keep them all in Karl, in case anyone has already entered . Bonus race!

Thanks for the above details, I've entered too.

  • How about including the other local Classic the Dalton 10k, so hilly it's almost a fell race  only joking, just a heads up that this years race (the 26th edition) is on the 1st May, decent prizes + a bonus for course record (ladies time 38.20 which is definitely doable, men's time 30.59  which probably isn't) nice to see a few BCR vests out.

    Simon

  • Although I hate racing, I have entered the Hoad Hill Marathon too.
Felt it would be rude not to. Anyone else?

  • I've entered and (as you already know) think including it in the road
champs would be an excellent idea.

  • Well Done Helen & Mike .. I'm entering .... Don't know about Claire yet.

  • Hawswater Half Marathon results now in. Another great performance from
Paula Irons who was 3rd Lady and 66th overall in 1.30.28 in a race with
over 500 finishers. Next BCR was Mike McIver 83rd in 1.32.35 and John
Shevelan was 209th in 1.44.51. The winner was James Buis of border
Harriers in 1.12.51. I also turned up for the race. I was a bit
concerned with a bit of soreness in my left hamstring after Thursdays
training session but hoped all would be well by Sunday but when I was
warming up it soon became clear that it was still sore so I decided not
to start - should perhaps have had a trial run at home first!

  • Announcement from Keswick AC:

We regret to announce that the Causey Pike fell race will be postponed
until later in the year due to emergency works on Stair bridge.

Hopefully the new date will be convenient for the BCR championships...

  • That could also affect the Anniversary Waltz fell race three weeks later as that event goes from the same area.

  • There's a provisional only date of Sat 12th Sep for Causey Pike mentioned on Fellrunner website. If that date is confirmed it won't affect the club champs but visit that website and Keswick ACs website for updates.

  • Seems like we were mostly running in pairs at Coniston!

    Beth

  • Where were these?
I couldn't find any results on this race....link? Who was lady victor? It all helps when I compile my report for the local press.

  • Great Lakes....only one (very dedicated) BCR representing! ;)

    http://www.amblesideac.org.uk/2015/06/great-lakes-run-2015-results/

    1 Simon Booth Borrowdale MV40 02:48:38
    13 Tim Ripper Black Combe M 03:44:33

  • Sounds suspiciously like favouritism Beth.

Well done Tim. Good running.

  • A couple of us were out at Skiddaw this afternoon - a climb I think I've
only done for BG training/rounds..it's a bit different going flat out up
there! Worth it for the grassy descent though!\
Someone needs to work out what Lord Harvey's secret training regime is -
he's getting much too fast! Maybe it's exactly that - training!

    1. Steve Hebblethwaite (Keswick) - 1:10:28\
    12. Harvey Lord - 1:18:29\
    19. Tim Ripper - 1:23:06

  • Well done, gents. BCR fell champs looking mighty close!

  • Ingleborough results:

    1 Steve Hebbethwaite Keswick 00:47:12

20 Harvey Lord Black Combe 00:53:05
    34 John Millen M40 Black Combe 00:55:28
    110 Phil Clayton M45 Black Combe 01:07:22

Great race, highly recommended for a day out and a strong field. Lord Harvey would have been third last year with that time.

  • Great running guys! (John...looks like there's still time for you to qualify and join the scrap at the top of the leaders board!)

  • Causey Pike has been cancelled for this year due to the continued works at the bridge in Stair. New race to be added to the champs, watch this space!
